End of 2010 reflection on current times

As user of a Drent press/ visitor of our website we wish you a  happy X-Mass and a healthy successful 2011.

If we look back in 2010 and forward to 2011 it is obvious to state that current times for web offset printers are quite turbulent. More demanding customers, lower margins, increased ink and paper prices and changing competition forced many printers to restructure. Nevertheless we experienced that 2010 has given good opportunities for those web offset printers that are able to boost their productivity and flexibility. The outlook for 2011 is not much different.

With the financing industry still very careful in investing in the print industry, the industry itself have found alternative ways to increase productivity. Instead of investing in new equipment printers need to increase press performances and productivity on other ways. It is an “open door” but If you do the math it is clear that even a 1% higher press productivity will lift the bottom line result considerably. Therefore a lot of printers are focusing and investing more than before on increasing the press productivity and flexibility.

Here is where Drent users can utilize our possibilities to help you in increasing your bottom line result. Professional preventive maintenance, clever press upgrades, operator training and press configuration changes can help a lot to lift productivity. This is our daily work and our specialism. We successfully supported many customers in 2010 to uplift there press performance with an increased financial Nett result as outcome and we are confident that we will be doing the same for many customers in the year to come.

The past investment in a modular press like a Drent can give you an advantage too in this dynamic times. The modularity allows for relative cheap configuration changes. Adding a color, a flexo unit or rotogravure unit or making a shorter and more effective press by removing components is a safe job and can be done with a little downtime, allowing you to position your company better for the future against relative low costs.

The actuality of 2010 and 2011 gives also many opportunities to increase capacity and performance by buying a used press relatively cheap. A Drent can be refurbished to “new” against low costs provided it is done on the right way. We refurbish or sell refurbished used presses with factory warranty, such a press will perform similar as a new press against a considerable lower investment level.

To summarize the current dynamic times: Drent users can be confident that they made the right choice when they made their investment. This can be an advantage now, which can be utilized to position themselves better against the competition. Off course such a better position will always bring the organization further in future.

For the above mentioned reasons 2010 have been very successful for DGpS. Although we see a lot of servicing companies for printing industry having difficult times, we are glad that we face a healthy growth. Our team increased with 8 people from 12 to 20 and we were able to invest in a larger warehouse, shop floor and many used Drent spares, presses and components. We are also looking forward to move to a new, larger and better equipped office before new year.  Therefore we are confident that 2010 gave us the possibility to position ourselves even better in being the Drent specialists. We are sure that this will enable us to continue to deliver good added value to our customers .

The year 2010 will soon be a past year and the time between X-mass and New Year will be used by all of us to look forward to the new year. We wish that you can do this in good health and personal happiness. We also wish you a prosperous beginning of 2011.

Yours Sincerely,

Peter Kloppers                                                                                                Remko Koolbergen
