This week DGpS completed a challenging Vision project. The project consisted of a total reconfiguration and re-installation of a 10 unit heatset Vision press that was taken out of service for 2 years. One of the major tasks in this project was to transform the servo driven press from printing in a straight line to printing / finishing in a "U" configuration. In addition to the layout changes, the team worked thru software, servo drive, mechanical integration. After numerous press configurations were explored, the team worked for several months on interface and engineering pre-planning. A highlight of the integration was the interface of Siemens and Beckhoff driven pull rollers. This was remarkable because a Siemens integration has never been done on a Drent press previously. A project of this magnitude required a combined engineering effort with partners that came from three different areas.
The pre-planning and engineering support allowed the actual installation, start up and debugging to be completed within a few weeks. allowing the press was in full production the following week . In addition, DGpS provided 2 weeks training after the start up.
Chris Nutter, IWCO Direct Inc's Capital Project Engineer stated that "This is my 102 press install project and it was by far the smoothest start up I have ever had". He added that "the project ran very smooth and we couldn't be happier with the results". “ The guys from DGpS where great to work with and the way they came up with ideas and alternatives during the pre-planning phase allowed this complex project to go from concept to completion in very short order. DGpS will be our provider for all of our future press projects going forward".
